These Terms govern your use of the services provided by IGRS Inc. ("we", "us", "our") through Japan Document Service. By engaging our services, you agree to these Terms.
We provide agency services for obtaining official Japanese public documents — such as family registers (koseki / joseki), certificates of residence, tax and income certificates, and academic certificates — and for arranging their certified translation and Ministry of Foreign Affairs apostille. We act on your behalf under a power of attorney you provide.
Our role is limited to obtaining existing records from the relevant issuing authorities and arranging their translation and apostille. We do not provide legal advice and do not file legal applications. Because results depend on the operations and records held by Japanese government offices and institutions, we cannot guarantee the existence, content, or availability of any particular document.
Work begins after we confirm the details of your case with you. Fees are quoted in Japanese yen. A quote covers only the items listed in it; additional requests may incur additional fees, which we will confirm with you in advance. Government fees and international courier charges are passed through at cost.
Most single-document requests take approximately 2–3 weeks from the time we receive your signed authorization; multi-generation family-register traces typically take 4–6 weeks. These are estimates only and are not guaranteed, as actual timing depends on the issuing office.
You agree to provide accurate personal information, respond to our confirmation requests in a timely manner, inform us in advance of any submission deadlines, and confirm the intended use and destination of each document.
We are not liable for delays or outcomes caused by government offices, postal or courier services, or other circumstances beyond our reasonable control. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability is limited to the amount of the service fee you have paid to us for the relevant case.
The content of this website belongs to IGRS Inc. and may not be reproduced or republished without permission.
We may revise these Terms from time to time. Continued use of our services after a revision constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. The Wakayama District Court shall have exclusive jurisdiction as the court of first instance for any dispute arising in connection with these Terms or our services.
Unless otherwise agreed, a 50% deposit is payable before work begins, with the remaining balance due after you have reviewed copies of the obtained documents.
